“God understands the way to it, and He knows its place. For He looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. When He gave to the wind its weight and apportioned the waters by measure, when He made a decree for the rain and a way for the lightning of the thunder, then He saw it and declared it; He established it, and searched it out. And He said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”

I do not know if they should have kicked him out or not but his perspective could lead to some problems. I know it seems silly but some of the reviews at Amazon dot com were actually quite helpful, I think.

Enns position is very nuanced and obviously informed by great learning. He may have some points about Evangelicals over-simplifying OT-related issues, no doubt.

I am just not sure how helpful it is too write-off some of the "literalness" of the OT in favor of allegory and a possible overemphasis on the influence of human culture on Scripture. Yes, the OT is a product of the ANE; yes, humans wrote it ... but it is still God-breathed Scripture, is it not?
